BBA Bison is back at Homestead

Last year the folks at Homestead Beer Company in Heath debuted Bison, a Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout that registered at 10% ABV. If you missed it, you’re in luck because it’s back — a limited return of the 2016 version, AND the ready-to-release 2017 version.

The 2017 BBA Bison has been resting in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels since last winter and will be released this Saturday, November 18. A special tasting opportunity at the taproom will include glasses of fresh Bison, 2016 BBA Bison, 2017 BBA Bison and Ulysses Mocha Porter. This year’s BBA version is described by co-owner and brewer Adam Rhodes as “vanilla, heavy oak, smooth booziness, coffee, chocolate, raisin and toffee, all blending beautifully on the nose and the palate.”

Bottles of the 2017 Bison and BBA Bison will be available for sale, as will a limited number of 2016 BBA Bison bottles. Beer lovers will be limited to four bottles per purchase (one of the 2016 BBA Bison.) The Smitty’s Original BBQ food truck will be serving on site all day. Doors open at noon on Saturday, November 18.

Homestead is located at 811 Irving Wick Drive in Heath, on the site of the former Newark Air Force Base.
