Elevator Brewing is hosting a release party Wednesday for Gravity 2.0 Imperial Stout.

The beer is the second in Elevator’s quarterly Gravity series featuring big bottled beers. The first Gravity was a Belgian Dark strong, the recipe for which came from a homebrew contest. Future Gravity releases will include a Doppelbock followed by a Belgian Tripel and then a Strong Scotch Ale.

Gravity 2.0 Imperial Stout clocks in at 13% ABV and 75 IBUs.

“It’s 13% alcohol but a very dangerous, very drinkable 13%,” said Brewmaster Doug Beedy. “It’s very temperature dependent flavor-wise — today we drank it warmer and got a lot of smokiness out of it, a little cooler and you get more plum notes and hop character, and with 75 IBUs there are a lot of hops behind it.”

Other limited edition beers will be pouring at the event including the original Gravity; a cask of Raspberry Mocha Stout; Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer; 2017 Winter Warmer; Orange Tiger Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Beer; and Brett’s Ring Around Rosé. Elevator will also be cooking up sausages and burgers throughout the day.

Doors open at noon for the bottle release with roughly 450 bottles of Gravity 2.0, 240 bottles of Gravity and 120 bottles of Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer available for purchase, all in 750ml format. The first five people in the door will get a complimentary Holiday Gift Pack, and the next 15 will get a free pint glass.

The Gravity 2.0 release will take place at the Elevator 13th Floor Taproom on Wednesday, November 22 starting at noon. Elevator is located at 165 N. 4th Street.
