Random Precision Brewing opens on St. Patrick’s Day

While Jason Grable is more concerned with good beer than green beer, he still plans to open Random Precision Brewing in Linworth on St. Patrick’s Day, this Saturday.

The 10-barrel sour-focused brewery will open with eight beers on tap, including a 100% Brett IPA and Berliner Weiss flavored with lemon and lime peel, a few bottled beers, and wine. The other six taps will feature beers from Ohio breweries such as Rhinegeist, Zaftig, Lineage, and Wolf’s Ridge.

The plan to offer guest beers has not changed since talking to Drink Up Columbus in February 2017. Random Precision will continue to serve rotating local guest beers, eventually dedicating a few more of the 12 taps to their barrel-aged sours. Barrel-aged sours can take several months to years to ferment. The next batch of Random Precision sours is slated to be ready around Thanksgiving, said Grable.

Sour beers continue to gain traction in the Columbus area. Random Precision Brewery is excited to be one of a couple new “sour-focused” breweries in the area, said Grable.

“I think in any aspect, beer or otherwise, more options in the market is better because it forced the producers to hold [the beer] to a higher standard,” said Grable. “You’ve got to make sure the product you put out is the best you can make. We’re excited to be one of two or three sour breweries in the area.”

The taproom is approximately 1,000 square feet, with a garage door that will be opened in warmer months. JT’s Pizza & Pub, located across the street, menus will be displayed in the brewery for delivery to the taproom. The taproom will be open 12p-12a on Saturday, 12-8p on Sunday, 4-10p on Wednesday and Thursday, and 4p-12a Friday.

Random Precision Brewing Company is located at 2365 West Dublin Granville Road.
