[CANCELLED] Kale and Ale Festival coming to Genoa Park

UPDATE: This event was cancelled on May 30 due to low ticket sales. Refunds have been issued to ticket holders.

“Unfortunately, ticket sales did not come close to meeting our expectations,” said Libby Stults from the fest in an email. “It seems that “Kale” evokes some strong (mostly negative) reactions in people, and despite our efforts, we weren’t able to dispel the notion that the Festival was only kale. We are hopeful we can work to rebrand with success, and look forward to trying again next year.”

The upcoming Kale and Ale Festival is combining farm-to-table fare with local craft beer on June 2 at Genoa Park.

“I want to offer people a way to get involved in the community, experience new music and discover new local beers and how amazing food prepared from fresh, whole ingredients can taste,” said festival founder and director Amie Sparks. “I don’t think there’s another festival quite like it.”

The inaugural Kale & Ale Festival will feature beers from BrewDog, Four String, Homestead, Ill Mannered, Knotty Pine, Land-Grant, Lineage, Loose Rail, Multiple Brewing, Platform, Rockmill, Seventh Son, Sideswipe and Wolf’s Ridge, as well as cider from Blake’s and Mad Moon.

Food for the event will be provided by Local Roots, Banana Leaf, Freedom a la Cart, Knotty Pine, Rockmill Tavern, Portia’s Cafe, The Crest and Westies Gastropub. Local musical talents Hebdo and Doc Robinson will also be performing.

General admission tickets, which include up to 84oz of craft beer samples as well as food from the seven participating restaurants, are $75. VIP tickets are available for $100 and also include reserved seating, and designated driver tickets are available for $35. All tickets are available online. A portion of proceeds will benefit Freedom a la Carte, which provides employment opportunities to survivors of human trafficking.

The Columbus Kale & Ale Festival will take place Saturday, June 2 from 2-6pm at Genoa Park, which is located at 303 W Broad St. Additional Kale and Ale Festivals are planned in Cleveland (July 7) and Cincinnati (July 21).

Yeah it was totally cancelled because of the word “kale” and not the ridiculous $75 ticket price

I must admit when I saw this on a list of events I shot right past and never opened/read the link. To hear tickets were $75.00 is a putoff. Just being honest.
