Zaftig medals at US Open Beer Championship

Zaftig Brewing recently earned two gold medals at the 2018 US Open Beer Championship.

The brewery was the only from Central Ohio to medal in the 2018 US Open Beer Championships, earning gold for Big Barleywine (category: English Barley Wine) and for Ol’ Rugger Imperial Stout (Category: Wood/Barrel-Aged Strong Stout Non-traditional).

Breweries from around the world sent in more than 6,300 beers representing more than 110 different styles for this year’s competition, which was judged on July 7 at Quarter Barrel Brewery & Pub in Oxford, Ohio.

Brink Brewing from Cincinnati was the runner-up for Grand National Champion at the competition, bringing home four medals at the competition (three gold and one silver). 16 other Ohio craft breweries also took home medals from the competition, including Fretboard Brewing, Platform Beer, Hairless Hare Brewery, The Dayton Beer Company, Hansa Brewery, Fifth Street Brewpub, Great Lakes Brewing, Listermann Brewing, Rhinegeist, Taft’s Ale House, Municipal Brew Works, Quarter Barrel Brewery, Sibling Revelry Brewing, Urban Artifact, MadTree Brewing and Phoenix Brewing.
