The Beers and Board Games Club (which is run by Drink Up Columbus) will host the fourth annual 24-Hour Board Game Marathon for Nationwide Children’s Hospital beginning at 11am on Saturday, November 3 at The Actual Brewing Company and neighboring Uprising Meadworks.

The event is part of Extra Life, a global 24-hour gaming marathon fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2010, Extra Life has raised more than $40 million to help children’s hospitals; locally, the Beers and Board Games Club has donated over $20,000 to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with the goal of raising an additional $10,000 this year.

The 24-Hour Board Game Marathon will take place at Actual Brewing and Uprising Meadworks, which is located across the parking lot from the brewery. For the event we will be completely taking over both spaces and featuring hundreds of tabletop board games — including classic titles and the newest releases from this year’s gaming conventions — as well as a few video games like Mario Kart, Rock Band and the cabinets in Actual’s retro arcade. Gamers are welcome to drop in to play for a few hours, or stay for the entire 24 hour event.

Admission to the event is $10, 100% of which will be donated to the hospital, as will $1 from every Actual Brewing beer and Uprising mead sold. Partner food trucks will also be donating 10% of food sales: Pitabilities (serving from 11:30am-2:30pm), Ajumama (serving from 4-8pm) and Pingweeni’s (serving from 9-11:30pm.) Additional donations in support of the club’s fundraising campaign can be made online.

The Beers & Board Games Club was founded in 2013. The group currently has over 1,400 members and hosts 5-6 meetups every month at Columbus craft breweries.

The 4th Annual 24-Hour Board Game Marathon for Children’s Hospital will take place Saturday, November 3 starting at 11am through Sunday, November 4 at 10am (daylight savings time) at The Actual Brewing Company, located at 655 N James Rd, and Uprising Meadwords, across the street 687 N James Road. While Actual will be open for the full 24-hour event — though only selling alcohol when it is legally permissible — Uprising will only be open from 11am-10pm. RSVP on Facebook
