Nocterra Brewing Company will hold its grand opening on February 2 in Powell.
The brewery comes from Bryan Duncan and Bruce Vivian, two homebrewing dads who met through regional homebrew competitions and decided to team up on a brewery of their own.
“We wanted to open up by where we live, and we felt there weren’t enough breweries in our neighborhood,” Duncan told us back in July.
Nocterra will have 10 beers on tap for the opening: Trail Break Helles Lager; The Dan Dunkel Lager; Terra Noir Baltic Porter; Terra Noir Baltic Porter with Coffee; Beta Flash New England IPA; Scioto Coast Double IPA; Swell Line Gose Kettle Sour; Hawaiian Swell Line Fruited Gose Kettle Sour; Californian Swell Line Fruited Gose Kettle Sour; and Tree Well White Pine IPA.
The downtown Powell building that houses Nocterra is over 100 years old. Historic touches throughout the brewery’s 1500 square foot taproom pay homage to its past life as a freight train depot.
The brewery is operating on a 15 barrel brewing system with seven fermentation vessels, and Duncan and Vivian, both avid sour lovers, intend to start an extensive mixed fermentation sour program after the official opening.
Nocterra Brewing is located at 41 Depot Street in Powell. The brewery will open at noon on Saturday, February 2.

Why report this? Powell is not in Columbus.
