As part of their ongoing sustainability initiatives, Land-Grant Brewing Company will host the Sun-Grant Sustainable Beer Fest this May in Franklinton.

The event, hosted in Land-Grant’s solar powered beer garden, will take place on May 4th from 3pm-8pm coinciding with the conclusion of neighboring COSI’s Science Fair. The brewery has invited several other sustainability-minded breweries to showcase their beer and environmental best practices at the event, including Jackie O’s, HiHo, Little Fish, MadTree, Warped Wing, Wolf’s Ridge, Woolly Pig and Sierra Nevada.

Tickets for the event are currently on sale for $35 in advance or $40 day-of and include 10 5oz tastings, a souvenir glass and a limited edition notebook with info about each participating brewery.

“As we continue our pursuit of sustainable brewing, we’ve learned that while there is plenty of work to do making ourselves sustainable, we can accomplish so much more by working together with our brewing and local community,” said Land-Grant co-owner Walt Keys in a statement. “The idea behind this fest is to bring sustainable breweries together to celebrate our efforts thus far, share our stories with our fans, and rally to continue the effort for a more environmentally friendly craft beer industry here in Ohio.”

The Sun-Grant Sustainable Beer Fest will take place on May 4th from 3pm-8pm at 424 W. Town Street.

Land-Grant also announced the next release in their Sun-Grant sustainable beer series, which is named for and inspired by the Sun-Grant Association, a group of Land-Grant Universities that research and develop sustainable and environmentally friendly bio-based energy alternatives.

The new beer is Helios Rustic Lager which features local honey from the Stratford Ecological Center near Delaware, Ohio; Pilsner malt from Haus Malts in Cleveland; Michigan-grown Triple Pearl hops; and a Kveik yeast strain that ferments at an energy-efficient lower temperature. Helios will be released on draft and canned six packs at the Land-Grant taproom on Earth Day — Monday, April 22. For every pint and six-pack sold, $2 will go toward Land-Grant’s Sun-Grant Fund which the brewery uses to reduce their environmental impact. More information about the fund can be found here.

    You’re showing a picture of a single-use plastic cup in this post….
    Somewhat inconsistent with the theme.
    How about paper cups?
At least don’t show the plastic cup. Show glass in the promo
