I’ve never personally been a fan of the Ohio State Fair, because I don’t like animals, rides, or small children, and I don’t like being around massive crowds of people while being denied the comfort of a cocktail. Well, the animals, rides and small children may still be around, but my fourth point of contention will be resolved this year: beer and wine are coming to the Ohio State Fair for the first time ever.

That’s right, according to Columbus Underground, the Ohio Expositions Commission approved plans to serve beverages from Ohio breweries and wineries in designated locations at this year’s fair. Those designated areas are the Taste of Ohio Cafe and the Celeste Center for certain shows. Alcoholic beverages will not be permitted outside of those areas.

Locally breweries and wineries interesting in serving fair-going patrons can submit an application to Concessions by Cox.

The 2011 Ohio State Fair will be held July 27th through August 7th. And now that locally-made beer and wine are on the bill, you just might find me there, too.

(Editor’s Note: Whatever that ride is in the photo… don’t drink and do that.)

This could be good….or very very bad. Rides + rednecks + heat is already rough. Throw booze into the mix? I’m scared…yet excited.
Fair. But do you really picture the rednecks walking away from the roast beef sundaes and baby goats and spinning things to go to a separate section and sip a fine Pinto Grigio? lol
Well….*I* will be doing that! *sulk*
Any idea of who the brewers will be???? I’ve looked everywhere. I’m sure CBC got in on this but I’m just trying to find info on the others.
i actually put an inquiry into the fair yesterday – will post when i hear back!
