3rd Annual Columbus Wine Festival Aug 26-27

Written by on August 9, 2011 in Events - 22 Comments

The 3rd Columbus Wine Festival will take place Friday, August 26th from 4-10pm and Saturday, August 27th, from 3-9pm. The event, held annually at Franklin Park Conservatory, features more than 270 wines, live music, food and cooking demonstrations.

“It’s attractive to both those new to the world of wine and wine experts due to the wide variety of international and domestic wines,” said Mary Patton with the Columbus Wine Festival. “The vendors are happy to share their knowledge and educate festival guest about the various wines. Plus, there’s the Best of Belgium Café for beer lovers!”

Tickets are $27 in advance or $35 at the door and include a souvenir wine glass, ten tastings and the opportunity to purchase wine at a discount. Designated Driver Tickets can be obtained for $10 in advance or at the door, which include two non-alcoholic drinks and a souvenir wine glass. Children under 21 are admitted free if accompanied by paid adult. A portion of the proceeds from the 2011 Columbus Wine Festival will benefit the Franklin Park Conservatory.

The full wine vendor and event lists are available at http://www.columbuswinefestival.com

I’ve attended this event for the last 2 years and always have a blast. Probably too much of a blast, as most of the wineries don’t actually take your drink tickets, enabling you to enjoy all-you-can-drink. And for me, that’s… a considerable amount of wine. ::hiccup:: Where’s my DD?

I just started getting more into wine last year. I’m interested in learning more about how different types of wine and how they’re made, so I would love to be able to attend this event. I’ve also never been to the Conservatory, and would enjoy getting to visit and enjoy some great wine at the same time!

I love wine because it provides my friends and I another way to explore central Ohio. We have a list of wineries, wine shops and events that we want to try. The nerd in me loves the history of wine. Thomas Jefferson dreamed of quality wine in the states. Just look at us now!

I love big reds, but need to find some different wines, maybe even – gasp! – a white or two. A tasting like this is a great way to find new favorites.

My finance is a fan of reds, and I am starting to enjoy wine more. The festival would be a great way for us to taste together and choose some wines for our November wedding!

I love wine because the more you learn about it, the more you enjoy it– and the more wine you enjoy, the more you learn!

Wine is more than a beverage for us. It’s a hobby, a reason to travel, something you share with friends. Drinking wine is about where it was grown, who made it, and who you’re sharing with. This sounds like a great opportunity to share wine in a nice spot with fun people.

I’m still new to the world of wine and am always looking to try a variety of wines to expand my palate! I went my first Wine Fest at the North Market earlier this summer and that was a lot of fun! Looking forward to this as well! Twitter entry: http://twitter.com/#!/osumols/status/101279552906604544

I’m usually overwhelmed by the choices when I buy a bottle of wine. Love going to tastings so I can have a list of ones to buy.
