The SBB, short for the Small Business Beanstalk, is a collaborative community of small businesses in Central Ohio. We’ve told you how they can help you drink on a discount, but tonight, they’re hosting an awards ceremony for local businesses equipped with the red carpet and the paparazzi (us included!)
The SBB Awards will present 13 awards to local businesses under the categories of Best Local Food Truck, Best Restaurant and the heralded Business of the Year award, to name a few. Columbus meadery Brothers Drake is up for Business of the Year, and several establishments are up for Best Local Bar. The SBB Awards will take place at The Bluestone at 583 East Broad Street – formerly BoMA.
The event officially kicks off at 6:30pm tonight with a pre-party happy hour at 5pm with food trucks and drinks. And local band The Spruce Campbells, who apparently make beer under the moniker “Spruce Campbell Brewing”, will be giving away free beer at 5pm with four different IPAs: J Blix IPA, Hoptimus Primus, Emotional Showdown IPA and Hoptimus Primette.
The music lineup includes Andy Shaw Band, The Spruce Campbells, Phantods, G.Finesse and The N.S., The Town Monster, Wet Darlings and Karate Coyote. If you haven’t snagged a ticket yet, you may still be lucky enough to get one – The Candle Lab – Grandview and Worthington – and What the Rock?! still reportedly have tickets. Cross your fingers and check Facebook for more locations with tickets to spare. ORRRRR…

Why? Because I spent the past three nights in Nationwide Children’s Hospital, that’s why.
I should get the tickets because I dedicate at least half my income to frequenting local establishments. Plus I am a huge fan of drinkupcolumbus and well the City of Columbus!
