Columbus Wine Festival August 9 & 10

Written by on July 19, 2013 in Events, Wine - 25 Comments

After a year hiatus, one of my favorite wine events in Central Ohio, the Columbus Wine Festival, is returning to Franklin Park Conservatory August 9 and 10.

The event features over 350 wines (wine list available online, with more wines still being added) and, for the first time, more than 50 beers. Wine seminars, cooking demonstrations and live music will provide entertainment for festival goers, and local restaurants and good trucks like Late Night Slice and Hungry Monkey will be on-site.

Tickets, which can be purchased online, are $29 in advance or $35 at the door, with $10 designated driver tickets also available. A portion of the proceeds benefit Franklin Park Conservatory.

Festival hours are Friday, August 9 from 4-10pm and Saturday, August 10 from 2-8pm.

My wife and I love to try new wine and beer. I am a craft beer nut and she loves wine! This event looks like it will satisfy both our interests!

My wife and I are just getting into wine. We used to only buy wine that was under $10 a bottle. A recent tour of several wineries has opened our eyes and intrigued our taste buds on the different types and varieties. Plus the chance to sample 50 beers I may not have had the chance to taste before is compelling.

Variety is the spice of life . . . or should I say a variety of wine is the spice of life

To me wine is about stopping and really appreciating something special. See it, smell it, and taste something from a world away, or even right outside the tasting room. Love trying new kinds from around the world.

I need to find out which wine pairs well with Captain Crunch.

Who wouldn’t want to broaden their horizons? Sounds like a lot of fun.

The variations of wine are all so interesting and exploring how they bring out the flavors in foods is great!

After touring a winery at Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada (they have 28 of them!) just a few weeks ago, I can now see how being a “wine snob” is truly a thing. There are SO many different parts that make up a certain type of wine, and I’ve realized how much left I have to explore! On my wish list: the $90 bottle of ice wine they had us sample.

Each wine is a different experience. I love trying new wines and sharing them with friends. I also love the Franklin Park Conservatory and the many environments you can experience there.

Red wine is my favorite, for the obvious health reasons 🙂 I also enjoy buying local and getting to know the stories of different wineries. Maybe someday I’ll even make my own wine… you never know.

I love going to wine tastings, recently just went to the North Market wine festival, which I loved. I also love Late Night slice, sounds like an amazing time!

The great thing about wine is every vintage is different. You can buy the same wine bottled in a different year and it can be totally different than the previous year.

I love, love, love wine and need to attend this wine festival in my beloved home state of Ohio because I never knew about it until last year and haven’t gone to it yet to be able rave about it, promote it and share it with all my friends since I’ve only been promoting the Finger Lakes Wine Festival in New York. I <3 wine!

I’m slowly easing out of sweet wines like Reisling and Moscato. I’d like to try to find a red that is not too dry. Hopefully I’ll find something that tickles my fancy!

My husband and I love wine because it creates a sense of calm and mellowness at dinner. I particularly like it because I can feel calm without feeling totally drunk like with tequila.

Always wanted to learn more about wine and to grow what limited knowledge I have. This festival is a great way to do that!

I would live to bring my best friend to this. We don’t get to see each other very often (she lives 2 hrs away) and she has 3 children she could probably use a break from!

I love wine! Wines are like the ppl who drink them, all different and unique. Trying new wines always excites me because you never know what to expect, even the same type of wine varies by vineyard and region. This festival gives you a chance to try wines you normally wouldn’t and is always a great time with friends!!!

We love wine and this event is always a good time. Wine is one of our favorite food groups….I think it counts as a fruit right? 🙂

I absolutely love wine and I love events like this so I can experience new wines that I probably wouldn’t try otherwise. My taste buds never get bored with wine. And my boyfriend loves to try new beer — this is a perfect event for the both of us.

My girlfriend and I have become quite the couple of beer connoisseurs and wine is something that we have considered dabbling more in. A few of our friends make their own wine and we have just started making our own beer. Wine is something I’ve often enjoyed but never really appreciated. I’d like to change that.
