That’s my jam: Mixology Marmalades makes beer, wine and liquor jellies

mixology marmaladesHusband and wife Sheree and James Jarc, as it so often goes, came up with a great idea while they were drinking: to create a line of jams and jellies made with Ohio-produced alcohol products paired with local seasonal produce, which they call Mixology Marmalades.

On the liquor line they partner with Watershed Distillery to offer three “top shelf” flavors made with Watershed products: Bourbon Blackberry “Scarlet”, Vodka Grapefruit “Greyhound” and a Gin & Ginger Beer “Foghorn.”

They don’t have definitive partners for their beer and wine offerings, but for products like Fig Pale Ale Jam and Raspberry Ginger Riesling Preserves, they have used booze Great Lakes Brewing, Fat Hads Brewing, Raven’s Glen Winery, Mon Ami Winery and Debonne Vineyards. They’re currently working to perfect a Bloody Mary Jelly made with Brothers Drake Hot Shot Mead to add to the lineup.

James suggests using the jellies for more than as a toast topping: they also work well in cocktails and cooking.

You can purchase Mixology Marmalades at Celebrate Local at Easton, State & Third downtown, Pure Roots in Westerville, Simply Vague in Polaris and the Easton Farmers Market, or online.
