A new seasonal spirit is joining Watershed Distillery’s liquor lineup: Nocino.
Nocino is a traditional walnut liqueur from Northern Italy. Watershed’s Nocino is created aging their spirits with unripe Ohio-grown black walnuts, a proprietary blend of spices, and a hint of sugar to develop a nutty, dark, molasses-like sweetness.
“Nocino was first brought to us by Charlie Tweel, a local Doctor from Upper Arlington,” said Dave Rigo, co-founder of Watershed Distillery. “He had us over to his house and shared how he makes the liqueur. We fell in love with the product and the process. Greg and I grew up in Columbus and were surrounded by Walnut trees. Little did we know when we were kids that they could be used to make such delicious liqueur.”
Watershed will be hosting a Nicono launch party on December 5th from 5-8pm at their recently expanded Distillery, which is located at 1145 Chesapeake Ave.
Nocino will be available in 375mL bottles for $29.95 at Watershed’s bottle shop and specialty liquors stores around central Ohio including Weiland’s Market, Huffman’s, and several Giant Eagle and Kroger locations.
