451 Spirits

451 Spirits opened earlier this year in Clintonville without a tasting room, something they hope to change with voter approval this November.

Unlike Middle West Spirits and Watershed Distillery, which are both in the process of taking advantage of recent legislation allowing Ohio distilleries to serve their spirits on-site, 451 is not planning to open a full bar; the distillery is just seeking to serve samples and sell spirits.

The ballot iniative would allow the distillery to serve guests up to four ¼ ounce pours of their products. Approval would also allow 451 to sell bottles of spirits out of a shop in their distillery. 451 Spirits Chief Distiller Chad Kessler says that direct to consumer sales will allow them to develop new products.

“Selling directly to fans and customers from our own facility will allow us to produce even more unique and limited batches of spirits in the future,” said Kessler. “Our passion as a distillery is create entirely new styles of spirits, however, because of how distribution is set up in the state, it’s not really possible to do something like a limited 100-bottle run of whiskey and ensure it gets into the hands of the right people. Your vote can help us change that.”

451 Spirits is located at 590 Oakland Park Ave.
