Westerville, Ohio — once known as The Dry Capital of The World, the town that almost single-handedly brought us Prohibition — goes WET on October 12th.

The third annual Uptown Untapped will feature local beer, local food and local bands. Thirteen breweries will be serving including Westerville’s own Temperance Row in addition to Elevator, Sideswipe, Wolf’s Ridge, Zaftig, Land Grant, Lineage, Seventh Son, North High, Columbus, Endeavor, Restoration, and Three Tigers.

A number of Uptown Westerville restaurants will be serving food for the event including Asterisk Supper Club, Old Bag of Nails, Barrel and Boar, Tostadalicious, Cardinal Pizza, and Shirley’s Popcorn. While you eat and drink, enjoy live music provided by the Jay Roth Band, Topher James and the Biscuit Brigade, and Whiskey Would.

Admission is $10 for 6pm entry or $15 for a 5pm entry. Drink tickets are not included with admission — another $20 will get you a tasting glass and a dozen 4oz pours. Tickets for full 12oz pours will also be available for $5. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate.

Uptown Untapped will be held on Main Street in Westerville on Saturday, October 12th from 6-10pm.

The event is still in need of volunteers to pour beer. Those interested can sign up here.

Funny story. Moved to Westerville, November 1995, Thanksgiving weekend. Went out to get a pizza and beer. Didn’t know Westerville was dry. Owner got a good laugh out of it. We drank soda instead. Yes we were from New England and learned about Westerville history and “pop” that night. Glad to see the rules have relaxed. It’s been 30 years since we moved on, but some good memories of the Midwest.
